Ashland Bus System Paratransit Service
Paratransit Service Overview
Paratransit service is transportation offered to those in the community who are unable to ride the fixed route services. This service is curb to curb service. Clients schedule ride times in advance, and one of our courteous drivers will safely transport you to your destination which may include medical appointments, shopping, the hair salon, or visiting friends and family.
The City of Ashland Bus System provides friendly, convenient and affordable service to all of our passengers. All of our vehicles are handicap accessible.
The Paratransit service covers Ashland, Catlettsburg, and Russell Shopping Center and Westwood. Paratransit service is provided in the service area that is no more than ¾ of a mile on either side of any ABS route.
Paratransit Identification Card
A Paratransit identification card must be shown to the bus driver every time the service is used. The identification card verifies the individual is eligible for the Paratransit service.
Applications for Paratransit identification cards are available at the Transportation Center at 99 15th Street and can also be mailed or e-mailed to you. You can also download one here. Certification will be granted on a permanent or temporary basis. Temporary identification cards are available to visitors of the Ashland/Catlettsburg area and to temporary disabled persons.
Paratransit customers may have a personal care attendant ride with them at no additional cost.
Paratransit Service Hours:
Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.-6:30p.m.
Advanced reservation for Paratransit service is required. Passengers must call the day before to schedule an appointment. Appointments may be reserved up to 2 weeks in advance.
Appointments may be scheduled by calling 606-327-2025 or T.D.D 606-327-2097 during office hours or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. Appointment requests may be made after hours by leaving a message or e-mail at email@example.com. All appointments will be confirmed the next business day.
To cancel your appointment, please call two hours before your appointment as we have reserved this time to serve your transportation needs.
We will strive to meet your preferred time, but sometimes due to high demand service will be provided within one hour before or after your preferred time.
