The City of Ashland is accepting applications for the position of
 
 
WATER DISTRIBUTION CREW LEADER
Public Services & Utility Operations Department
Water Distribution / Meter Services Division
 
 
Supervisor:     Water Distribution Field Supervisor
Supervises:    Equipment Operators and Distribution Operators
Grade:            110                      Minimum Beginning Salary:   $18.022/hr.
 
Class Characteristics:   Under general direction, supervises, directs, and assists in the construction and maintenance of equipment, facilities, and other City property related to the division.
 
General Duties and Responsibilities:  Assists in the construction and maintenance of City property.  Provides supervision to other employees related to construction and maintenance.  Operates light vehicles, heavy vehicles, and motorized equipment.  Directs safe and efficient operation of equipment.   Detects equipment malfunctions and makes minor repairs or makes recommendations for major repairs.  Performs preventive maintenance duties on equipment, facilities, and property.  Cleans and properly stores equipment and tools after use.  Assists in developing systems related to construction and maintenance.  Prepares and maintains required reports and records.  Assists other divisions in construction and maintenance duties.  Requisitions equipment, tools, supplies, and materials.  Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:  Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by experience and education acceptable by the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet to obtain a Class III Water Distribution Operator License.
 
Certification/Licensing Requirements:  Must possess and maintain a Class III Water Distribution License issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and upon eligibility, obtain a Class IV Water Distribution License. Must acquire and maintain Class IV License as a condition of continued employment in this class. Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) as a condition of continued employment in this class.
 
Availability Requirement:  Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at any time and may rotate twenty-four (24) hour on-call with other crew leaders.
 
Overtime Provision:   Non-Exempt
