The City of Ashland is accepting Applications for the position of
 
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
General Government Department / Human Resources Division
 
Supervisor:   Human Resources Director/City Clerk  
Grade:           108
Salary Range:  $15.846-$22.185/hr. - $30,899-$43,260 annual
 
Class Characteristics:    Under minimal supervision, performs highly skilled and technical secretarial work tasks related to the division requiring exercise of judgment in applying prescribed procedures and methods to administrative matters.
 
General Duties and Responsibilities:   Performs public relations and administrative assistant duties.  Prepares and proofreads correspondence for public and confidential matters.   Answers telephone inquiries, answering questions or rerouting as appropriate.  Prepares reports, correspondence, and documents as requested.  Schedules appointments, meetings, travel arrangements, and other events for the department.  Prepares bi-weekly payroll.  Collects, reviews, and processes incoming mail.  Maintains, updates, and searches for files, reports, and other documentation.  Orders office supplies and ensures proper inventory is maintained.   Prepares and distributes all Job Postings/Notices, including to City’s website.   Ability to maintain accurate files and complex filing systems.  Coordinates City activities and works on special projects.  Assists with additional administrative and clerical duties as needed to all Departmental Staff.  Helps the public or others who need assistance from the department.   Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience:  Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by five (5) years directly related work experience.
 
Certification/Licensing Requirements:  Notary Public Commission from the Commonwealth of Kentucky.  Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment in this class.
 
Overtime Provision:  Non-Exempt.
