The City of Ashland is accepting applications for the position of
 
ASSISTED HOUSING SPECIALIST
 
 Community & Development Development Department,
Assisted Housing Division
 
Supervisor:     Section 8 Voucher/Grants Administrator
 
Grade:            108
 
Starting Salary Range:  $15.44 - $16.99 / hour (DOQ), full-time
 
Class Characteristics:   Under general supervision, supports the local Section 8 Voucher programs by preparing and maintaining tenant and landlord records and assisting participants with Section 8 Voucher processes; performs related work as required.
 
General Duties and Responsibilities:   Monitors, processes, and submits reports and records to comply with Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations.  Completes Section 8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) and performs assessments.  Provides information to and notifies prospective and current program participants as necessary.  Enters housing assistance data into computer system.   Determines eligibility and verification needed for participation in program.  Organizes necessary verification processes to determine participant eligibility.  Maintains participant and applicant files and information.  Reviews invoice and purchase requisitions and prepares for payments.  Schedules inspection appointments.  Serves as a receptionist and assists with clerical duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:   Associate degree in Social Work or Business and two (2) years of directly related experience. Additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement
 
Certification/Licensing Requirements:  Housing certification in Housing Choice Voucher Management within two (2) years of appointment to position.
