Supervisor: Meter Services Supervisor

Supervises: None

Grade: 24

Class Characteristics: Under general supervision, reads and records water meter readings; completes various service orders when requested; assists in repairing/replacing water meters; performs related work as required.

General Duties and Responsibilities: Read water meters on assigned route; record readings.  Change rings and lids, curb boxes and/or curb box lids and meters; cleans/trims around rings and lids.   Clean flooded and/or buried meter.  Check for leaks and insures proper functioning of meters.  May assist in repairing and/or replacing water meters.  May turn water service on or turn off as directed.  Complete various service work orders when requested.  Assist other division personnel as requested.  Accept requests/complaints from customers and attends to their disposition or forwards to higher authority.  Clean and maintain work area, vehicle and tools.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by two (2) years work experience.

Certification/Licensing Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid drivers’ license as a condition of continued employment in this class.

Availability Requirement: Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at all hours.

Overtime Provision: Non-exempt.

Maintenance Worker I

Parks/Recreation Department

Supervisor: Crew Leader

Supervises: None

Grade: 21

Class Characteristics: Under general supervision, performs skilled, semi-skilled and manual labor work activities in the construction and maintenance of parks, cemetery, pools and city street rights-of-way, sidewalks of downtown; provides security for and enforcement of applicable city rules at parks, pool facilities; performs related work as required.

General Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in the construction, maintenance and cleanliness of parks including grounds, cemetery, buildings, pools, sidewalks, ball diamonds, playground equipment, and other sports facilities. Patrol all parks and pool property to provide security from vandalism and enforce rules and regulations on use of facilities.  Assist in maintaining city street rights-of-way.  Assist in construction of park benches and picnic tables.  Assist in setting up displays for special events held in parks.  Prepare required reports and records.  Prepare soil, plant and cultivate flowers, grass and shrubs; cut grass and trees; rake leaves.  Assist in building forms for sidewalks; act as cement finisher.  Clean pools.  Assist with minor plumbing and electrical work.  Clean and properly store equipment and tools after use.  Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.  Assist with preparation of grave sites for funeral services.  Assist other departments as requested.
