Grade:   25

Class Characteristics: Under general direction, is responsible for GIS mapping of City owned utilities, storm sewers, roads and other miscellaneous items; performs related work as required.

General Duties and Responsibilities: Operate GPS and GIS software for mapping of City infrastructure.  Obtain field data with survey equipment including hand held GPS in order to put the data into GIS system.  Review as built plans from all departments, records, valve books and other historic records to put the data into the GIS system.  Operate various design and analysis software using the GIS system as a platform.  Coordinate sharing of the GIS information between departments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by two (2) years work experience (experience in GIS, GPS or mapping preferred).  Completion of a two-year degree in a GIS related major is preferred, but not required.  Completion of training course in computer assisted drafting and/or GIS preferred, but not required.  Directly related vocational courses preferred, but not required.  Experience with ArcGIS preferred, but not required.

Certification/Licensing Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid drivers’ license as a condition of continued employment in this class.

Drug and Alcohol Testing Requirements:  Must participate in drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment.

Overtime Provision: Non-Exempt
