The Public Services Department directs the following services. 

Animal Control:
This division is located at the 41st City Garage. It enforces the animal control ordinance of the City.  One officer responds to calls from citizens and 911 to correct violations.  Animal Control may be reached at 606-385-3175.  The normal hours of operation are 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. weekdays.  Problems after hours or on weekends may be reported by calling the non-emergency 911 phone number at 606-329-2191.

Central Garage:
The Central Garage is located at 41st & Winchester Ave. They maintain the city's fleet which consists of many various types of equipment used within the city.

Floodwall:
The Floodwall Division is responsible for maintaining over three miles of a concrete floodwall along the Ohio River and several hundred feet of earthen levees on the west end of Ashland.  The division closes underground gates and above ground gates, if necessary, during high water events and pumps out drainage water through six pump stations.  The Street Superintendent directs the operation of the  Floodwall Division and may be reached at 606-385-3170.  The Floodwall Supervisor may be reached at 606-385-3182

Sanitation/Solid Waste:
Solid Waste administrative offices are located at the 41st Street Garage. Garbage collection is weekly and required of all residents within the City. This service is billed monthly with water and sewage billing. Solid Waste may be reached at 606-385-3173

Streets:
The Streets Division of Public Works is responsible for maintaining City Streets, Traffic Control Devices owned by the City, the Storm Water Drainage System, and the operation of the Floodwall Division.  The division is headed by a superintendent who may be reached at 606-385-3170.   The division operating hours are from 7:00 A.M. until 3:30 P.M., Monday through Friday.  If the phone is not answered, please leave a message with your phone number and the superintendent will return your call.

The department offices are located on the 4th floor, Suite 408 in the City Building, located at 1700 Greenup Avenue.  The telephone number is 606-385-3332.  The Director's office is open from 8:30 A.M. until 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday.
