Code Enforcement is charged with the enforcement of the 2018 Kentucky Building Code and the 2018 Kentucky Residential Code for construction, remodeling and renovation. The division also enforces the property maintenance code, City of Ashland zoning ordinances along with multiple ordinances enacted by the City Commission relating to property and new or existing structures.
- Issuing building, sign, and electrical permits.
- Inspecting construction projects to ensure conformance with building codes and the zoning ordinance.
- Enforcing property maintenance codes in target neighborhoods.
- Providing leadership development and empowerment training for residents of target neighborhoods.

Ordinance 73, 2021 established a requirement that all residential rental housing units within the city limits of Ashland must be registered in an effort to properly identify ownership and management of rental units to allow for effective enforcement of public health, safety and welfare ordinances of the City of Ashland, Kentucky and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Registration of a rental property may be obtained by completing the registration form and emailing it to the Community and Economic Development office at ced208@ashlandky.gov or return the completed form to our office in room 208 of the City Building during regular business hours. If you are unable to print the form copies are available in our office.
Code Enforcement Board Meeting
