The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has given the award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Reporting to the City of Ashland, Kentucky for its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year end June 30, 2014.  The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports.    It is the 2nd consecutive year this award has been achieved.

In order to receive an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial reporting, a government unit must publish a Popular Annual Report, whose contents conform to the programs standards of creativity, presentation, understandability and reader appeal.

The purpose of the PAFR is to increase transparency in our financial reporting.  This report is designed with the approach of making our financial information more user-friendly to all citizens and other interested parties who may be unfamiliar with more detailed traditional reports.  This report does include a snapshot overview of our financial position.  The PAFR also spotlights interesting statistical data regarding our City and various departments.
